The Canadian International Sportfishing Association (CISA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting competitive sportfishing in Canada. CISA plays a pivotal role in facilitating Team Canada’s participation in prestigious international events, including the Pan American Championships and World Championships, under the governance of the International Sport Fishing Confederation (CIPS) and the International Federation of Sport Fishing in Fresh Waters (FIPS-ed).
CISA operates through its two branches: Canada Bass and Canada Kayak, each focused on fostering Canadian representation at international competitions. Additionally, CISA hosts premier domestic events such as the CISA Opens, including the renowned Kingston Opens, which bring together top anglers from across the country to showcase their skills and passion for the sport.
Our mission is to:
- Maintain a sustainable organization to support Canada Bass and Canada Kayak teams in their efforts to compete at the Pan American and World Championships.
- Promote the growth of sportfishing across Canada and inspire participation at all levels.
- Subsidize qualified athletes through fundraising, corporate sponsorship, and government support, covering up to 100% of expenses for Team Canada members representing the nation in Pan American and World Championship events.
CISA is proud to champion Canadian anglers through world-class events like the CISA Opens and ensure they have the resources and opportunities to excel on the global stage.

The Canadian International Sportfishing Association (CISA) operates under the governance of the International Sport Fishing Confederation (CIPS) and the International Federation of Sport Fishing in Fresh Waters (FIPS-ed). These governing bodies aim to promote competitive sportfishing globally, with the ultimate goal of achieving inclusion in the Olympic Games. Similar to the World Olympics, international events organized by CISA open opportunities for qualifying teams from participating countries to compete for the chance to win gold medals for their nation on both Pan American and world stages.

To oversee and promote a growing level of participation in competitive sportfishing, the Canadian International Sportfishing Association (CISA) represents Canada at various international competitions. These events range from National Championships in Canada to Pan American Championships and World Championships across a diverse array of disciplines, including saltwater fishing, fly fishing, and bass fishing, conducted from both boats and kayaks. Additionally, CISA opens its own championship events here in Canada, with a current focus on freshwater black bass fishing from boats and kayaks.
